Maths Champions!
Our Nursery School children enjoy maths lessons with specialist teachers who have been trained as Maths Champions.
Leanne Neal (Level 3 Educator) and
Cherie Chandley (Level 6 QTS) are our Maths Champions.
We are taking part in the DfE Maths Champion Programme in partnerships with the Education Endowment Fund and the National Day Nurseries Association, which is funded through the DfE Accelerator Fund.
Maths Champions is a professional development programme which builds the knowledge of Early Years Educators to support children’s early mathematical development.
There is good evidence that high quality early numeracy approaches can be effective. The EEF’s Early Years Teaching and Learning Toolkit shows that early numeracy interventions can have a high impact on children’s outcomes, including long-lasting effects which may help close the gap in achievement throughout life.
